Since our launch, we have learned so much about pet licensing: what works, what doesn’t, why pet owners license their pets, and why more often they don’t.

Through countless conversations, program iterations, and the development of benchmark industry research reports, we have gathered critical insights that we are happy to share here with our friends in the animal welfare community.

FAQs

DocuPet’s partnerships are always priced to ensure our partners are able to reduce their overall costs of administering a pet licensing program. Pricing is set annually based on the number of licenses sold annually and the complexity of your program. Pricing can be as low as $1.50 per license issued and billed at a flat monthly rate for the duration of our agreement. If you contact us now, you might be selected for a no-fee partner. We have several of these available each month for qualifying partners.

  1. DocuPet partners never need to touch a tag again! (Unless you want to, of course). All tags are produced by DocuPet and mailed directly to the pet owner via the USPS/Post. There is no direct cost associated with tags or tag mailings for our partners. Pet owners can choose a no-cost standard (locally branded) tag included with payment of their license, or upgrade their tag to a fun designer tag style for an additional fee ($10-$20). 20% of these proceeds are donated to DocuPet’s Safe & Happy Fund to support local animal services in your community!

  2. If you have use cases that require an inventory of tags on hand at your location(s), DocuPet can accommodate this by providing pre-packaged tags directly to you that your team can then easily assign to a pet right and hand out at the point of sale.

Your dedicated Relationship Manager and Systems Specialist will prepare an implementation plan that works best for your organization. Typically a launch can range from four to eight weeks depending on your program and timelines. All in, we estimate about 15-20 hours of work required on the partner side spread over that time. Our team will take on the majority of the footwork getting your software and services set up and ready to launch.

  1. Data! Including your currently active license records and historical records - typically 3-5 years as availability permits.
  2. Some quick details about your current program including: types of licenses administered and how they expire, documentation requirements, logos and administrative authorizations.
  3. An agreement of course. We will provide you with our standard services agreement early on in the process so you can simplify your internal review processes.

Absolutely! With 100s of communities licensing in DocuPet, we have (almost) seen it all. Require proof of rabies - no problem! Want to issue temporary licenses - you bet! Need licenses to expire with rabies vaccination - easy! Need discounts for senior citizens or military vets - of course! Have different pricing for different municipalities you serve - we've got you covered! The flexibility of our software and service can accommodate even the most unique licensing program requirements.

DocuPet provides full training for your staff prior to launch and provides a robust level of support post launch including a dedicated Partner Support team just for administrators. We also provide easily accessible additional materials like FAQs and an interactive HelpDesk with videos to support the continued learning of our system. If at any point you require additional training for new members of your team, we can do that too.

Data security is of the utmost importance to DocuPet and all of our partners and pet owners. Our servers are hosted domestically within your home Country and all data is encrypted end to end with hourly backups. DocuPet never  provides or sells data to any third-parties.

DocuPet provides many means of growing license sales for our partner programs year after year. Recent key partners have seen sales growth of 31% in Year 1 alone thanks to access to programs like support for door-to-door campaigns, retroactive communications that bring long-expired records back to your program and the full complement of pet owner services like our free lost pet service and desirable designer pet tags!

  1. Our totally free, 24/7, lost pet service: HomeSafe! No matter the time of day, when a lost pet is found wearing a DocuPet tag, the pet finder can give us a call to provide all the necessary details so that we can be in touch with the pet owner on their behalf. They can also utilize the code on the back of the tag to submit a Found Pet Report online that notifies the pet owner immediately.
  2. Pet owners can use their DocuPet account to create a Lost Pet Report that proactively indicates their pet is lost and adds their pet’s description and photo to a banner on the licensing webpage for their community. At their discretion, pet owners can decide to make their personal contact information public in the event they have reported their pet as lost so the finder can call them directly. Residents can even choose to receive notification any time a pet is reported lost within a 12 mile range of their home to help keep an eye out.
  3. With many tags provided by DocuPet being personalized by pet owners to include their own phone numbers, oftentimes pet finders can simply call the owner directly thanks to that personalization provided by DocuPet!
