Animal Services, DocuPet partner to create more effective pet licensing system

(Santa Barbara County, CA) December 2023 – Pet parents in Santa Barbara County have another tool to protect their furry family members.

A new pet licensing program created through a partnership between Santa Barbara County Animal Services and DocuPet offers an effective pet identification and reunification program that keeps pets out of shelters and returns them home safely at no additional cost.

Sarah Aguilar, director of county Animal Services, said that the pet licensing initiative aims to streamline processes but also contribute to decreasing and minimizing the shelter population.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with DocuPet, as their online licensing solution promises to bring unparalleled convenience to pet owners while prioritizing the safety of our furry friends in the community,” said Aguilar.

Though pet licensing is mandatory for dogs and voluntary for cats in Santa Barbara County, many local pet owners do not license their pets regularly.
