Our mission is simple: A safe and happy home for every pet.
Each year, millions of lost or stray pets enter shelters. Without proper identification, the chances of lost pets reuniting with their families are wildly slim. Through our registration solution, we aim to equip pets with not only (free) proper identification, but enhanced identification - through linked ID tags and comprehensive, searchable profiles inclusive of crucial Return To Home information.
Everything we offer is intentional. The unifying, underlying goal is to provide pet owners, shelters, and the community with the resources needed to keep a pet home -and furthermore- keep them safe, happy and healthy. Whether selected from a trusted breeder or adopted from a shelter, once a pet is brought home, that’s exactly where we (and shelters) want them to remain.
The shelter should be the last resort for a lost pet, not their first stop.
Shelters are over-capacity, and lost pets entering their doors are taking away space and resources from the animals that desperately need the care. DocuPet provides an unrivaled resource that exists to decrease shelter intake and improve resource availability.

Our team consists of more than 100 members who bring a breadth of experience from the public sector, agency, start-up and corporate retail environments. Stationed at one of our two headquarters or located in one of our many home offices across the continent, we may not be able to agree on which timezone reigns supreme, but we can all agree on one thing: yes, we would love to see a photo of your pet.

Our History
DocuPet was born out of a glaring opportunity to support animal shelters. When we learned that 60% of local animal welfare funding comes from license sales but that just 13% of pet owners comply with mandatory registration laws, our company’s wheels were nearly immediately set into motion.
Emerging as an eager-to-learn innovator in the pet licensing space in 2012, we set out to learn as much as we could about the widespread struggles surrounding pet licensing programs. We spent the foreseeable future learning, building, refining, improving (rinsing and repeating) to craft an undeniable licensing solution that works for everyone - pets, their owners, and the community alike.
